Sick girl, sick week…

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

This week was terrible for me. Well, it’s nice to work in the afternoon shift whereby I need not to wake up early in the morning and follow doctors’ rounds but there’s only 2 staff nurses working in the afternoon, taking care of 15 patients. I finished my work about 2230hrs, 2300hrs and 0030hrs. You heard me right, after midnight and I’m still working with no overtime pay. Since when nurses get good pay? I felt bad about the day when I have to leave alot of shit work to my collegue who took over from me as she have to finish my things. Imagine, Wednesday I went for the JP Mogan run. The following day I had to go for outreach, reached hospital at 0700hrs and continue to work in the afternoon. Then working till 0030hrs. Didn’t get any dinner, luckily doctors were having this farewell party and I took quite a heavy lunch from the party, thus giving me enough energy to last till end of the shift. Damn, I must have been cursed. I better start reading bible and pray more…. Please let me get totally well soon!!!

Jp Mogan chase was quite fun. Didn’t know that my stamina has improved compared to few years back. Thanks to Nadia, my jogging kaki and mp3, that kept me jogging most of the time. I was really amazed of those people from different coporate companies that they can really jogged! But it was drizzling that day, so the ground was muddy and the place smelt like cow dung. Yucks! In short, I felt a sense of achievement cos’ I managed to jog most of the circult without feeling totally drained out! *proud* =P

Next week I’ll be going to the briefing of the bachelor of nursing course. Though I’m not really the study type of girl but I just feel that it’s essential for me so I will know which is the right path for me…

Ok, got to go. Wish everyone good health!

JPMogan Chase!

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

Today is the JPMogan chase. Suppose is a competition within different companies nation wide. I didn’t know until recently, geez! But nevertheless, My collegues and I decided to just slowly walk throughout the circult. 5.6km circult! If I’m going to jog, most probably I’ll faint or collapse. To think that I’m coughing away with blocked nose which contains thick greenish secretions. Did I spoil your appetite? Hehz~

Tomorrow doctors will be having their farewell party at ward 2. According to the message book which we always pass messages during roll call, all staff are invited to this mini party. Geez, in ward 2? It’s not that I don’t like the staff or what but it’s not my teritory, I don’t feel easy. Unless someone that I know like my collegues or dr that I know well are there. Hmz, tomorrow I shall see how….

Next month hospital will be having this debate on "Good documention means good defense". I thought that I’m just a standby and the nominated people will confirm go, 2 drs and 1 nurse. 2 days ago, this dr who is participating called up to the ward and asked for me. He told me that he have to opt out and leave this "great" task for me…. How could he? He explained that he was too busy but he will cheer me on that day. Right…. I can do that too! So as usual I scolded him, we always argue when we meet, and accepted this impossible mission. *sigh*

I don’t feel so good now, don’t how am I suppose to walk for 5.6km… May God be with me…

Wedding dinner

Friday, April 14th, 2006

My friend is getting married at June and she’ll be holding her dinner at some Orchard hotel. I’ve never been to a friend’s wedding dinner before. Besides it’s been at least a decade I’ve been to a wedding dinner! (my relative’s that is)

So the main concern is… What should I wear? Don’t want to be over-dressed but yet presentable… Should I bring my husband along? Worried he might get bored… How much should I give her for the ang bao? Hmz… Anyway it’s about 1 and half month to think about it so no hurry I guess. For clothing wise, I guess I get have an excuse to buy a nice nice dress for the dinner? Maybe I can buy the casual yet presentable dress that I’ve eyed on last month? Hah! Perharps I can do that in my next pay~! Not forgetting that I’ll be getting extras next month, thanks to progress package!

So… Anyone wana go shopping next month or so? *winks*

Little thoughts of missy wong

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

Been busy with work, 2 kizen up to do… 1st is the drug allergy thingy in the medication chart and 2nd is patient education notes… Not forgetting the upcoming JPMogan run 5.6km (probably will walk all the way).

Thought of many many things…

1) I want to study degree of nursing but per semester I have to pay $4200 excluding textbooks. So expensive… Must really quickly save fast if not when I have a baby, will be difficult for me to study… It’s not as if I’m having a baby soon but of course I can’t wait till 27 and older then get pregnant right… By then so tired and old le…

2) Honeymoon… Let’s see, I married for about half year but because we’re too busy with our work, hence unable to go for our honeymoon.

3) A place where we call our home. Where should we stay? How many room flat? If you ask me, I would like to stay in Yishun, especially when the new hospital suppose to be located at Yishun in 2009 or 2010. Lots of things I want to get in my new home… wardrobe, bed, sofa, washing machine, dryer, blah blah blah… Then we’ll have a house warming full of healthy and unhealthy stuffs like salads, sandwiches, chicken wings, fries, beer, wines, etc…

4) Am I really getting slimer? How come I don’t feel like it? I’ve been eating quite alot and feeling kinda lethargic recently… Am I really in stress? Doubt so, I’m always the stress-free girl, ever disturbing everyone and smiling away… Whatever… Life still goes on…

Enough bull shit… bye…

Video games helps young people to blast cancer

Sunday, April 2nd, 2006

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Saif Azar, a 14-year-old video game fan, said a new title called "Re-Mission" helped arm him with the knowledge of how to fight cancer after he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2003.

"It was perfect, actually. It helped me understand the things that were going on in my body," said Azar, who started playing the game as part of a clinical study and continues playing today as he wraps up his treatments.

Roxxi, the main character in "Re-Mission," is a gutsy, fully-armed "Nanobot" who seeks out and destroys cancer cells throughout the body.

HopeLab, the game’s maker, said the results from its scientific study involving 375 teen and young adults at 34 medical centers in the United States, Canada and Australia showed that young people who played "Re-Mission" were more likely to stick to their medication regimens than those who did not.

Palo Alto, California-base HopeLab is a nonprofit organization that helps young people deal with chronic illnesses. It was founded in 2001 by board chair Pamela Omidyar, wife of eBay Inc. founder and Chairman Pierre Omidyar.

The results showed that the game helped players feel empowered to confront the challenge posed by their illness, which made them more likely to take their medicine — and more likely to get better, said HopeLab President Pat Christen.

"We approached the study in the same way and with the same rigor that we would with a new drug," she said.

HopeLab targeted teens and young adults because their health outcomes tend not to be as good as younger and older groups, she said.

"There is an assumption that they’re doin what they’re supposed to be doing and they’re not monitored as closely," Christen said.

The PC game is immediately available, free of charge, to teens and young people diagnosed with cancer. It will be widely available on May 1 for a suggested donation of $20.

This PC game sounds kinda cool, at least they give people hope or inspiration to live life to fullest. Talk about advanced technology… What’s next?

Personality test

Saturday, April 1st, 2006

Schoolyard Bully
You are 14% Rational, 57% Extroverted, 57% Brutal, and 28% Arrogant.
You are the Schoolyard Bully! You focus more on feelings than rationality, and thus tend to be driven by your emotions rather than by a steering wheel, because human beings don’t have those. You are probably easy to anger or annoy, for instance. You are also an extrovert who wouldn’t mind having a lot of attention, although you may not always get it. Another character trait you possess is your brutality, manifested by the fact that you tend to be aggressive and do not care about the well-being of others. Also, you exhibit signs of humility, leading one to conlude that you are actually insecure, because very few people are truly humble AND brutal. Thus, like any schoolyard bully, you seek constant attention for yourself and have no issues with administering beatings because you are quite emotional and easy to upset. Not only that, but your insecurity may be a prime motivation for your brutality. As psychologists have noted, most schoolyard bullies only pick on others because they have a negative self-image. This could possibly be true of you. In short, your personality defects are your brutality, extroversion, irrationality, and your possible insecurity.

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more INTUITIVE than rational.

2. You are more EXTROVERTED than introverted.

3. You are more BRUTAL than gentle.

4. You are more HUMBLE than arrogant.

Haha~ I had nothing better to do so I decided to play this personality test. Is it true about me? You decide… =P
